From public reports, we can see that Haier has made many simulations and optimizations for this purpose. For example, ordinary engineers would not dare to add a valve to the refrigerant pipes casually because it means changing the flow state of the refrigerant and increasing resistance. Haier has designed special one-way valves for this, which is the “variable diversion” technology we have today.

The variable diversion technology co-created by Haier Air Conditioning and Xi’an Jiaotong University can increase the cooling capacity and heating capacity of air conditioners by 8% and 10% respectively. It also effectively optimizes the performance structure. 2.2 Cool Core Bridge

The weather is getting hotter and extreme weather occurs frequently.

The maximum outdoor temperature limit of 43℃ specified by the national standard for air conditioning is far from enough.

Moreover, the outdoor units of many buildings are still in “prison positions,” making it more difficult for air conditioners to dissipate heat.

When the outdoor unit is in a high-temperature environment, the heat exchange capability of the air conditioner decreases, and it may even shut down automatically in order to protect the circuit board.

Therefore, whether an air conditioner can adapt to high-temperature environments is crucial for the user experience.

Last year, Haier released the “Cool Core Bridge” technology in Turpan, which can lower the temperature of the outdoor unit and ensure undiminished cooling at 53℃.

2.4 Frequency Leaping Technology

In the summer, everyone hopes to cool down immediately after turning on the air conditioner at home, and in the winter, they hope to have hot air immediately.

However, achieving this is not easy. The variable frequency compressor requires a certain amount of time to establish a good working state, so we often see air conditioners taking their time to increase the frequency.

However, Haier’s frequency leaping technology can solve this problem well. By accumulating big data and controlling the frequency increasing algorithm, the compressor can start up at 0.24 seconds and reach 40Hz, achieving high-frequency operation from the beginning and faster cooling and heating. It can cool down in 15 seconds and heat up in 30 seconds.

Taking the recently tested 3-ton Haier Jing Shuang air conditioner as an example:

It sounds impressive, but how does it perform in practice?

Three. Test of Haier Jing Shuang 3-ton Air Conditioner’s Winter Heating Performance in Harbin

3.1 Snow

A few days ago, Harbin experienced a blizzard that lasted for 46 hours. The snow was so heavy that schools were closed for two days, and at the same time, the temperature dropped sharply.

Coincidentally, I wanted to test the heating performance of the Haier Jing Shuang air conditioner in real conditions.

So, I urgently installed the air conditioner that I had disassembled a few days ago.

3.2 Installation

There were some problems during the installation.

Because I was not familiar with the Haier cabinet unit structure, I couldn’t install it myself, so I had to call Haier’s after-sales service for help.

I have to say that Haier’s after-sales service in Harbin is really good. They came to help me assemble the air conditioner that I had disassembled into pieces, despite the heavy snow and traffic congestion, and didn’t charge a cent.

Then, the installation worker came and installed it according to the standard operating procedures, and vacuumed it for 30 minutes.

This is how it looks after installation. The indoor and outdoor units can be seen in the picture.

3.3 Testing Instructions

I performed two heating tests in total.

One was in the early morning when the external temperature was close to its lowest, which is more convincing.

The other one was in the afternoon, allowing a comparison of the performance when the temperature was slightly higher.

I used four temperature recorders to record the temperature changes at different locations, including:

  • The air outlet of the indoor unit
  • The diagonal corner of the room
  • Outdoors
  • The air outlet of the outdoor unit

The situation in the room is shown in the picture:

I am slowly renovating my newly purchased house. For convenience, I rented this house in the same community.

This house has a door and a large window that are not very tight, allowing some draft through. The bottom of the door and windows let in drafts.

However, the heating is okay, and the temperature inside can be maintained at around 18-20 degrees Celsius when it is below zero outside.

What I don’t lack in my house is air conditioners.

I am showing this picture to illustrate that testing the temperature at the other end is not very advantageous for the air conditioner. It is obvious that there is something blocking the middle, which affects the air flow.

If I want to get more precise data, I would naturally remove the obstacles in the middle.

During the test period, because the exhaust of this house is not good (see my idea), I opened the window while cooking, so sometimes the temperature would drop a bit.

The structure of this room is shown in the picture:

The yellow part is a large window with a door, 3.157 meters wide and 2.387 meters high, with an area of 7.54 square meters.

The living room is 4.413 meters wide and 5.872 meters long, with an area of about 25.9 square meters.

The living room is connected to a hallway: 3.155x2.372 meters, with an area of about 7.5 square meters.

The hallway is further connected to the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc., which will not be calculated.

3.4 Heating Test

As shown in the picture, I conducted a total of 2 tests:

Both were set to 28℃ with the maximum fan speed and electric auxiliary heating turned off.

Please note that with the maximum fan speed, the air temperature will not be very high.

Some bloggers deliberately highlight high air outlet temperatures but do not tell you the fan speed.

The initial temperature rise of the air outlet is very fast:

The x-axis in the graph represents 10 seconds.

It can be seen that after about 18,000 seconds, or 5 hours, the temperature at the opposite end reached its maximum temperature, rising from 18 degrees to 28 degrees, and the air outlet temperature began to decrease, indicating that the frequency had decreased.

This indicates that the temperature control is quite accurate.

The subsequent temperature drop is due to opening the window. You can see that the air outlet temperature quickly responded, indicating an increase in frequency to cope with the open window.

Later, I turned off the air conditioner and let the room temperature return to its natural state.

At around 2 PM, I turned on the air conditioner for heating again.

This time, it took only about 1 hour for the temperature at the opposite end to reach 28 degrees.

From this, it can be seen that the external temperature has a significant impact on the increase in indoor temperature by the air conditioner.

However, I later found that the terminal head fell to the ground (probably the work of a cat), so the temperature at the opposite end seemed a bit low.

After turning off the air conditioner, the temperature at the opposite end also decreased, indicating that the temperature rise was maintained by the air conditioner.

Even in a situation where there is something blocking the middle, the temperature can still be maintained quite well.

During the test period, the outdoor temperature dropped to nearly -15 degrees Celsius, which occurred between 6:30 AM and 7:10 AM.

The temperature rise below was because I opened the door to go out, and the thermometer is very sensitive.

The second test was in the afternoon at around 2 PM because the indoor temperature was higher during the day, and the air outlet temperature reached 50℃.

Since the test time was relatively long and I had other things to do, I didn’t feel any cool air blowing and didn’t notice if the air conditioner went through defrosting.

3.5 Wind Speed and Noise

During the heating test, I also tested the wind speed and noise.

I used a hot wire anemometer, which is very sensitive but quite expensive.

The wind speed varies in different positions, and 2.78 meters is a position with a higher speed.

The specific wind speed also depends on the angle.

The noise was tested about 1 meter in front of the air outlet.

Because the temperature probe of the temperature recorder was blown and collided with the air deflector, the actual noise would be lower.

The maximum recorded noise was about 52 dBA (including the collision of the probe).

In reality, it doesn’t sound noisy, and you might ignore this sound if you don’t pay attention to it.

Remember, this was tested at the maximum fan speed.

3.6 Power Consumption

Note that the time on the screenshot is the duration of operation.

The average is 2.25 degrees per hour, which matches the change in the air outlet temperature. After the mid to late stages of each test, the air conditioner began to decrease its frequency, so the average power consumption did not reach the rated power for heating.

Four. Conclusion

Haier’s air conditioners indeed have many black technologies, and this time I only picked a few related to Jing Shuang.

With the support of these black technologies, the Haier Jing Shuang air conditioner can achieve an air outlet temperature of about 48 degrees Celsius in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius and with the maximum fan speed.

Under the maximum fan speed, the air outlet temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius higher than the initial indoor temperature, demonstrating excellent heating performance.

Through this test, I personally experienced Haier’s high-quality service and the outstanding heating performance of the Haier Jing Shuang air conditioner.
