How to achieve significant anti-aging effects for the skin?

Anti-aging Mechanisms and Solutions: Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Elastin, and Fat Cells

I just happened to have prepared a training PPT on anti-aging, so I’ll use it to give a talk.

Talking about skin anti-aging is a huge topic, so there are super many anti-aging products and various distribution channels, unlike whitening, which basically involves inhibiting tyrosinase and then understanding the principles of other corners.

Skin aging itself, like human aging, has many hypotheses, but these are basically confirmed by scientists. They don’t seem to have much to do with our anti-aging products, but if you look at high-end lines, they are all focused on them because epigenetics, mitochondria, and so on are more cutting-edge things!

If the mechanism of anti-aging is complex, then let’s look at the process of aging. For Chinese people, You She Yen has done research on it. It starts to happen around 25 years old, becomes a little more stable around 32 years old, and then starts to increase again in their 50s.

Although we have talked about so many cutting-edge ideas on how to solve these problems, ultimately, we have to go to various cellular and tissue levels, such as collagen, glycosaminoglycans, elastic proteins, and even fat cells. These are the main directions of many products.

Collagen and glycosaminoglycans are naturally the focus of most products. Vitamin A and peptides promote collagen regeneration, and boswellia promotes glycosaminoglycans. There are so many products to choose from.

Elastic proteins are not common, but they are quite effective.

For example, Clarins' Spring Cream is targeted at elastic proteins. If the skin lacks elastic proteins, it will still sag and produce wrinkles.

A new idea is to achieve anti-aging by replenishing fat cells because when your skin sags and has fine lines, it may be due to fat loss. Fat is not a bad thing, and having a chubby face without wrinkles is a good thing.

So supplementing fat is a good idea. This type of product was originally used for breast augmentation and buttock enhancement, but later it was also applied in many skincare products. Perales' Ruby Face Cream is a good example.

Let’s look at other ways!

Shiseido’s new HADA SENKA, I also wrote an article about it. Its mechanism is to prevent the degradation of collagen, rather than promote collagen regeneration.

Shiseido selected the new HADA SENKA (hydroxyethyl imidazolone) from more than 21,000 ingredients. It is a molecule that can hit two birds with one stone, simultaneously inhibiting two harmful enzymes—acetylcholinesterase and MMP-9. It is particularly powerful in protecting the basement membrane. Therefore, the Shiseido Group published two papers in 2019 and 2022, explaining the mechanism and effects of the new HADA SENKA clearly.

Hu Xiaobo: Thirty years of hard work, Shiseido’s killer for anti-aging?

As for products, Shiseido will use it in Opalay’s Black Elf.

I didn’t expect that Black Elf is already in its fourth generation…

As for more recommendations for anti-aging products, I have written about them before. Let’s stick to these ideas for now. A clear mind is more important than any number of products. To summarize what we just discussed, this picture should be good, haha:

5. What are the Signs of Skin Aging?

  • Loss of elasticity
  • Skin sagging
  • Thinning of the skin
  • Wrinkles, dryness, dullness, fine lines, rough texture
  • Uneven skin tone: Hyperpigmentation

Skin aging is a complex process, influenced by both internal and external factors. Currently, there are five recognized causes of skin aging:

  1. Genetic aging: Skin aging is influenced by genetic factors.
  2. External factors: such as UV radiation, irritants, pollution, and smoke can cause skin aging; 80% of external factors aging is caused by UV radiation.
  3. Hormonal changes: Hormones are also related to genetics, but skincare products explicitly state that they should not interfere with hormones.
  4. Inflammation and breakdown metabolism aging: Collagen, elastin, fibronectin, and elastic fibres decrease; extracellular matrix degradation aging; skin aging due to wounds; mitochondrial aging and dysfunction; cell cycle alterations; protein homeostasis disruption aging; in summary: metabolic imbalance.
  5. Lifestyle habits aging: Eating fewer sugars, living in a polluted environment, unhealthy diets such as barbecue and fried foods; excessive stress, poor sleep habits, smoking, frequent sun exposure, frequent tanning, etc.

6. The Most Used Anti-aging Ingredient is Retinoic Acid!!!

Retinoic acid (Retin-A), a derivative of vitamin A, is considered one of the most powerful forms of vitamin A and is widely recognized as the gold standard anti-aging ingredient in dermatology.

The relationship between retinoic acid and the skin can be traced back to 1925, and there has been nearly 100 years of research on the effects of retinoic acid on the skin. Up to now, more than 5000 synthetic forms of vitamin A have been developed and proven to be useful for systemic and topical treatments for various skin conditions.

Retinoic acid has multiple benefits, including promoting collagen synthesis, reversing photoaging (sun damage), and combating skin aging and wrinkles. It is considered the gold standard anti-aging ingredient in dermatology.

7. At What Age Should You Start Anti-aging?

Generally, around the age of 30, but you can start combating the early signs of aging between the ages of 24-30.

Aging is a natural process, and despite your reluctance, your skin will eventually develop various problems, such as wrinkles, sagging, hyperpigmentation, dullness, etc.

According to a study conducted in Germany in 2018, collagen renewal is highest at the age of 20-24, and then gradually decreases with age for both men and women. From a certain perspective, collagen production decreases by about 1% per year after the age of 20, leading to a decrease in skin elasticity and increased susceptibility to wrinkles and sagging as you age.

Retinoic acid can directly induce collagen synthesis and reduce collagen degradation. These two mechanisms work together to increase collagen levels during retinoic acid usage.

Retinoic acid can also reverse photoaging. In a double-blind experiment conducted in 1993, 29 volunteers with photoaging applied 0.1% retinoic acid to their forearms. After the experiment, biopsies were taken from the volunteers' forearms to examine collagen formation. The results showed that the use of 0.1% retinoic acid increased collagen synthesis by 80%, while the placebo group showed a 14% decrease in collagen formation.

Retinoic acid also increases the production of hyaluronic acid in the epidermis, which is an essential component for skin hydration. Hyaluronic acid is a moisturizer that can accelerate wound healing and hydrate the skin by drawing water from the environment and dermis.

Retinoic acid has also been proven to have anti-aging and anti-wrinkling effects. A study published by Procter & Gamble in 2010 examined the effects of 0.02% retinoic acid cream on 196 female volunteers over an 8-week period. The results showed significant improvements in reducing wrinkles.

Morning: Vitamin C; Evening: Retinoic Acid, this is the mainstream!

If there is any skincare ingredient that can single-handedly bring out the radiance of the skin, it must be vitamin C. Vitamin C promotes collagen production, reduces melanin production, protects the skin from sun damage, and has antioxidant and anti-aging effects. Currently, there are two types of vitamin C formulations on the market: multiple alcohol formulations and water formulations.

  1. Skinceuticals CE Ferulic: This formula is simple but highly effective. The founder of Skinceuticals, Dr. Duke, was one of the leading researchers of vitamin C. CE Ferulic is developed based on his research, maximizing the effectiveness of vitamin C with a combination of 15% L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), 1% vitamin E (tocopherol), and 0.5% ferulic acid. According to Dr. Duke’s research, this combination can boost the efficacy of vitamin C eightfold.

  2. Wish Formula Vitamin C Serum: This serum contains 10% vitamin C and 2% AA2G (vitamin C derivative). It has a refreshing texture and is suitable for oily skin. The water-soluble vitamin C in this serum can help improve dullness and brighten the skin tone quickly.

  3. The Ordinary Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution: Ethylated ascorbic acid is a derivative of vitamin C and is known for its good stability and absorption. This product from The Ordinary contains 15% ethylated ascorbic acid and has a lightweight texture that is easily absorbed by the skin.

  4. La Roche-Posay Redermic R Retinol Cream: This retinol cream has a moderate concentration and is suitable for those who want to start using retinol. It is gentle on the skin and helps reduce the signs of aging.

  5. HBN Retinol Serum: This retinol serum is known for its light texture and effectiveness. It is well-absorbed by the skin and does not cause stickiness or acne.

  6. Perricone MD Diamond Face Cream: This face cream is highly recommended due to its mild and effective formulation. It is gentle on the skin and provides anti-aging and lifting effects. It is suitable for all skin types, and its price is relatively affordable.

  7. Perricone MD Hydrating Facial Cleanser: Perricone MD’s water and milk set are formulated with peptides for anti-aging effects. The formulations follow the high-quality standards of the brand and contain beneficial ingredients for anti-aging, anti-oxidation, and moisturizing. Perricone MD’s water and milk set also includes the main active ingredient, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), for anti-oxidation and brightening effects. It effectively reduces dullness and free radicals and includes soothing and repairing ingredients such as panthenol B5 and a full spectrum of hyaluronic acid. This set is an all-in-one solution for skincare.

Overall, it is recommended to use vitamin C in the morning and retinoic acid in the evening for anti-aging purposes. These ingredients have been extensively studied and proven to be effective in combating the signs of aging.

Skin Care Tips:

  1. Balanced diet and limit sugar intake.

  2. Exercise regularly for skin detoxification.

  3. Avoid over-cleansing to prevent dryness.

  4. Cleanse pores properly under professional guidance.

  5. Acid-based skincare for oily skin.

  6. Manage stress to prevent excessive oil production.

  7. Get enough sleep to reduce inflammation.

  8. Quit smoking for healthier skin.

  9. Weight loss and probiotics for better gut health.

  10. Hydration and moisturization go hand in hand. It may seem like a skin problem, but it needs to be looked at as a whole:

  11. Diet: Choose whole grains, lean meats, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Limit intake of sugar and saturated fats (such as cream, cheese, and butter). Sugar can cause skin aging and inflammation in the body. Consuming too many sweets and spicy foods can lead to excessive oil production, especially in the facial area.

  12. Increase exercise time and engage in moderate-intensity exercise for at least 150 minutes per week (such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling) to ensure that dirt and impurities can be effectively eliminated from the skin.

  13. Avoid excessive cleansing, as it can damage the skin’s sebum membrane and lead to dry and tight skin. This can also cause the sebaceous glands in the hair follicles to continuously produce oil. Over-cleansing not only fails to control oil but also causes the skin to become progressively drier.

  14. Pore cleansing should be done according to the situation. Try to remove oil particles, oil, and inflammation. If these are not thoroughly cleaned in the same area, such as deeply embedded oil particles, they can reappear repeatedly. Cleaning the pores promotes the renewal of sebum, resulting in brighter skin. This should be done under the guidance of a professional.

  15. Acids are needed for acne-prone and oily skin. The type of acid to be used should be determined based on the skin type and seasonal factors. Use acids scientifically, reasonably, and effectively. This should also be done under the guidance of a professional.

  16. High levels of psychological stress can also lead to excessive oil production in the skin. Prolonged stress can elevate cortisol hormone levels, slow down tissue repair, reduce hyaluronic acid synthesis, and decrease collagen content. Stress, as a potentially harmful stimulus, has adverse effects on the stability of the skin.

  17. Get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can trigger inflammation in the body.

  18. Quit smoking.

  19. Lose weight. It is advisable to supplement with prebiotics. Prebiotics are essentially fiber compounds that are not easily digested by food and consist of oligosaccharides. They can stimulate the growth of normal gastrointestinal flora, thereby inhibiting the growth of abnormal flora and pathogens. High doses of prebiotics can reduce the brain’s response to high-calorie foods, opening up new possibilities for preventing and treating obesity. In addition, consuming a substantial amount in the morning (a hearty breakfast) can help people adhere to weight loss plans by significantly suppressing appetite.

  20. Hydration ≠ Moisturization. People often hydrate their skin using sprays, toners, and masks, but whether these external water sources can be absorbed by the skin primarily depends on the presence of a moisturizer that also locks in moisture. When you only hydrate without moisturizing, the more external water you apply, the stronger the evaporation effect. This evaporation can take away the already limited moisture in the epidermis. Therefore, the phenomenon of skin becoming drier with more hydration can occur.

01

0.5% Synoxyl® AZ

INCI Name: [Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract], sourced from Sytheon, USA

Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract is a versatile antioxidant.

We all know the importance of antioxidants, but what exactly are they fighting against? They are a group of highly oxidizing substances, including singlet oxygen, superoxide anions, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals, and peroxynitrite, etc. Up to now, no antioxidant can effectively combat all forms of superoxide ions. Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract contains various functional groups, including phenolic groups that can donate hydrogen atoms, methoxy groups that can physically extinguish singlet oxygen, and carbonyl groups that can eliminate peroxynitrite.

In addition, Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract can selectively chelate free divalent iron ions, inhibit the Fenton reaction, and thereby prevent the formation of the most destructive hydroxyl radicals in the skin.

According to comparison experiments conducted by Sytheon, Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract significantly outperforms Vitamin E and resveratrol in various tests for scavenging reactive oxygen species.

Data provided by Sytheon.

Acetyl Curcuma Longa Extract can effectively scavenge or remove singlet oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals, and peroxynitrite. Its efficiency is 18-127 times that of Vitamin E and 158-470 times that of resveratrol.

Without further ado, here is the complete logic of the upgraded Vitamin A Essence formula.

New Combination of VA

Since it’s called Vitamin A Essence, VA is the star. The previous version contained 5% Granactive Retinoid, but the new version has replaced it with a combination of three new types of VA: 3% UNISOUL® Renew + 3% Granactive Retinoid + 2% Supramolecular Retinyl Esters, truly achieving the goal of 1+1+1 > 3.

3% UNISOUL® Renew

INCI Name: Silybum Marianum Extract, among others, patented by UNILIPO

This extract is known as “plant retinoic acid.”

This extract contains Silymarin, which is similar to retinoic acid and can regulate the expression of cell differentiation markers, stimulate the expression of basement membrane protein, and induce similar keratinocyte morphological changes. Therefore, it likely has similar anti-aging effects to retinoic acid.

It is worth noting that, unlike retinoic acid, Silymarin does not stimulate the secretion of IL-1α, so it does not have similar side effects.

In addition, Silymarin has stronger antioxidant effects compared to retinoic acid. It not only directly eliminates free radicals and chelates heavy metals but also stimulates the synthesis of endogenous antioxidant enzymes, thereby providing ultimate protection.

Furthermore, Silymarin also has anti-glycation effects that retinoic acid does not possess.

Studies have found that Silymarin and retinol not only have similar functions but also synergistically enhance each other’s effects when used together.

The biggest issue with Silymarin is its poor water solubility, which leads to low transdermal absorption and instability when combined with other ingredients. Therefore, even if you see Silymarin on the ingredient list, it does not guarantee that the product will achieve the expected results.

That’s why Unilipo has invested a lot of effort and resources into researching and developing their own effective form of Silymarin.

The main components of Silymarin include Silybin, Isosilybin, Silychristin, and Silydianin, with Silybin having the highest content and the strongest activity.

First, the main oil from Silymarin seeds is extracted using supercritical extraction technology to avoid the inefficiency and residue problems associated with traditional organic solvent extraction. Then, a mixture of Betaine and Ascorbyl Glucoside is chosen as the hydrogen bond receptor and hydrogen bond donor to prepare the cosolvent DES specifically for Silymarin extraction.

Although these few sentences are brief, they involve a lot of screening and experimental processes. The final result is that Unilipo has successfully enriched the active ingredients, improved their stability in the formula, and significantly enhanced their permeation effect.

This patented ingredient is named UNISOUL® Renew, which represents the rejuvenating effect it has on the skin.

With high-quality raw materials, the results are naturally remarkable.

Granactive Retinoid 3%

INCI Name: Supramolecular Retinyl Esters, sourced from Grant Industries, USA

Granactive Retinoid is a highly anticipated member of the retinoid family, developed and produced by Grant Industries, a well-known personal care materials manufacturer in the USA.

Granactive Retinoid has a small protective group, so it has minimal impact on the bioactivity of retinoic acid. After entering the skin, it does not need to be converted into retinoic acid to take effect but directly binds to the receptors to activate downstream signal transduction.

Based on experiments involving cellular gene expression, in vitro percutaneous penetration, in vivo percutaneous absorption, and clinical control experiments, this modification maximizes the effectiveness and activity of retinoic acid while significantly reducing its irritation.

Granactive Retinoid’s clinical effects can be summarized as follows:

Grant Industries named this raw material Granactive Retinoid, where “Gran” represents their company, “active” represents activity, and “Retinoid” represents retinoic acid. Combined, it represents an active retinoic acid developed by Grant Industries.

The amount of Granactive Retinoid added to the VA serum is 3%, as this is the concentration used in clinical trials. This means that if you use it diligently for 14 days, you will gradually experience the reduction of wrinkles, brighter skin, and reduced redness.

2% Supramolecular Retinyl Esters

INCI Name: Retinyl Palmitate, sourced from Santen Innovative Technologies, China

I have emphasized before that the biggest weaknesses of Vitamin A are its irritating effects and instability. However, the supramolecular encapsulated Retinyl Esters can simultaneously address both of these issues.

Through instrument detection, it has been found that the encapsulation rate of the product is 99.2%, with a nanoparticle size of 168.2nm.

It can maintain stability even in light, cold, and hot environments.

It significantly improves the transdermal absorption efficiency of Vitamin A, which is increased by 2.5 times. It also has a sustained-release effect, efficiently and effectively combating aging.

The amount of supramolecular encapsulated Retinyl Esters added is 2%, and Retinyl Palmitate accounts for 10% of the raw material, so the concentration of Retinyl Palmitate in the product is 0.2%.

According to national regulations, the total amount of Vitamin A ingredients should not exceed 0.5%. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the total content of Granactive Retinoid and Retinyl Palmitate in the upgraded VA serum is exactly 0.5%. This means that the VA dosage in Unilipo’s domestic products cannot be any higher.

VA’s Anti-Aging Partners

The combination of the three VA ingredients is already powerful, but if VA is paired with the right partners, the anti-aging effects can reach a whole new level.

3% Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid Supramolecular Eutectic Solution

When it comes to VA’s best partner, it must be none other than Niacinamide!

As a star ingredient comparable to VA in terms of fame, Niacinamide is known as the “jack-of-all-trades” in skincare. Whether it’s anti-aging, whitening, soothing, or acne treatment, Niacinamide seems to have the answer to every skincare concern. When these two stars join forces, they can create a different kind of chemistry. Niacinamide can stimulate the skin to produce beneficial fatty acids and ceramides, enhance the skin barrier, and also has anti-inflammatory and calming effects on the skin. This makes the skin more receptive to VA, alleviating potential irritation and dryness caused by VA and reducing the likelihood of intolerance. Additionally, when both ingredients enter the cells simultaneously, Niacinamide enhances the regulation of downstream genes by VA. Researchers speculate that this may be related to Niacinamide’s activation of the NAD+ pathway.

As part of the dicarboxylic acid family, Azelaic Acid has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Furthermore, it can inhibit tyrosinase and gently promote keratinocyte turnover.

Studies have shown that the combination of Azelaic Acid and VA is more effective in treating acne than either ingredient alone. Additionally, the combination treatment of Azelaic Acid and VA results in faster and more significant improvement in melasma, with a higher rate of improvement in patients at the end of treatment.

What’s even more surprising is that Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid, the perfect partners for VA, also have great synergy. Using supermolecular eutectic/ion salt technology, Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid can be made into a supermolecular eutectic, significantly improving the poor solubility and stability of Azelaic Acid.

By using supermolecular eutectic/ion salt technology, Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid are prepared as a supermolecular eutectic, thereby significantly improving the poor solubility and stability of Azelaic Acid.

This eutectic solution contains 3% Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid and is clinically effective. In human experiments, it has been shown that consistent use for 28 days can significantly brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of spots.

1.8% UNISOUL® Reborn

INCI Name: Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract, among others, patented by UNILIPO

This is a new patented ingredient from Unilipo. While the name Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract may sound unfamiliar, once you hear the name “Reborn,” it will all make sense.

It is a natural dimethylated derivative of Resveratrol and is highly effective in inhibiting tyrosinase, surpassing even the “whitening gold” known as Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract.

Furthermore, Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract and Niacinamide work together to increase NAD+ levels, countering the decreased activity of Sirtuins, a longevity protein, that occurs with aging. In other words, Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract and Niacinamide complement and promote each other in different anti-aging pathways.

Unilipo recognized the potential of Pterocarpus Marsupium and made significant efforts to research, verify, and apply for a patent for this ingredient.

After applying for the patent, the relevant research data was summarized and submitted as a paper to a Tier 1 international journal. The enthusiasm can be attributed to the impressive research data.

Although there is a lot of data, I can only briefly introduce it in this article:

First, extraction and nano-encapsulation of Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract were performed using supramolecular liposome and supramolecular ionic liquid technologies.

Then, through in vitro experiments, the modified raw material showed significant improvements in solubility, stability, transdermal permeability, and efficacy compared to the original version of Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract (which was already impressive; you can refer to my previous article, “The Power of Plants,” if you are interested).

Human trials yielded unsurprising results, with significantly stronger whitening and brightening effects compared to free Pterocarpus Marsupium Extract. What surprised us even more was its unexpected impressive anti-aging performance!

Firstly, it significantly promoted the synthesis of Type I collagen. Even at a concentration as low as 0.02% UNISOUL® Reborn, it was

In a double-blind, controlled clinical trial in a third-party laboratory, participants who used UNISOUL® Reborn Essence continuously for 14 days experienced a significant decrease in the number of crow’s feet compared to the baseline (p <0.001), with a decrease rate of 48.07%. After using UNISOUL® Reborn Essence for 28 days, the number of crow’s feet decreased significantly compared to the baseline (p <0.001), with an astonishing decrease rate of 55.78%!

No wonder in the questionnaire, 100% of the participants reported a decrease in fine lines, and overall customer satisfaction reached 100%!

Furthermore, we conducted a series of tests on participants, including cheek wrinkles, skin firmness, skin elasticity, and jawline firmness, and all parameters showed significant improvements.

UNISOUL® Reborn is added to the formulation at a concentration of 1.8%, which is the effective concentration. However, if you want to experience its magic firsthand, you must pay attention to the upcoming upgraded Sandalwood Essence.

In summary, the logic of the VA Essence formula is clear.

01 Triple Combination of VA

As the gold standard in anti-aging, VA is an indispensable part of every skincare routine for anyone who wants their skin to keep getting better. It is currently the best weapon we have to fight against aging.

The powerful combination of three types of VA, “Silymarin, known as plant retinoic acid,” “new type VA HPR that is effective without conversion,” and “nanoparticle-encapsulated VA with stability, gentleness, and penetration” is the soul and trump card of UNILIPO’s upgraded VA Essence.

02 Synergistic Enhancement for Anti-Aging

The main forces also need synergistic enhancement from friendly allies, so they are divided into three routes. The combination of “Silymarin-encapsulated nanoparticles,” “Granactive Retinoid and Azelaic Acid Supramolecular Eutectic,” and “Pterocarpus Marsupium Bark Extract and Niacinamide” enhances anti-aging effects by activating various pathways that complement VA.

03 Reduced Irritation for Better Tolerance

Lastly, to maximize the reduction of potential dryness, irritation, and inflammation caused by VA and allow more people to use our essence, it is important to add soothing ingredients. We have chosen SymSitive® 1609, which has a rapid calming effect. In human trials, SymSitive® 1609 was able to alleviate 72% of the discomfort caused by retinol within just 30 seconds!

Formula Summary

With all of this, the overall logic of the VA Essence formula is now clear.

01 Powerful Combination of Three Types of VA

03 Reduced Irritation for Better Tolerance

Lastly, to maximize the reduction of potential dryness, irritation, and inflammation caused by VA and allow more people to use our essence, it is important to add soothing ingredients. The chosen ingredient, SymSitive® 1609, has a rapid calming effect and can alleviate 72% of the discomfort caused by retinol within just 30 seconds.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, when developing products, it is important to have a complete story in mind, including why and how to research, how to analyze the results, and how to anticipate the future. This way, work becomes more efficient.

With a doctorate in hand, it’s not just about acquiring knowledge (although knowledge is important), but it’s about learning to approach things and people with a scientific mindset.

03 Moisturizer

Unilipo Moisturizer with Retinol Set

Unilipo’s product line includes the C3Px Complex.

This complex consists of Resveratrol, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, and Tetrahydro Methylpyrimidinecarboxylic Acid (Icktonin).

Well-known international brands tend to combine various ingredients to form special names that are convenient and fashionable.

01 Sytenol® A

INCI Name: Resveratrol, sourced from Sytheon, USA

Resveratrol is the most powerful natural alternative to retinoic acid, derived from the Polygonum cuspidatum plant. I have previously written an article on this topic, and its anti-aging effects can definitely be ranked among the top anti-aging ingredients (see “The New Prince of Anti-Aging”).

Clinical data has proven that it has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and can stimulate the production of collagen, thereby reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It can also significantly reduce skin damage caused by UV radiation, such as pigmentation.

Due to its similar cellular pathways and gene targets as retinoic acid, Resveratrol has almost the same anti-aging effects as retinoic acid at the same concentration. However, it has better skin tolerability and does not cause any of the side effects associated with retinoic acid.

Due to its gentleness, it is suitable for all skin types: dry, sensitive, oily, and combination. It is a mild anti-aging ingredient suitable for everyone.

In addition to its anti-aging effects, Resveratrol is also excellent for treating acne. Additionally, it protects other ingredients in skincare products (such as retinoic acid and unsaturated fatty acids) from photooxidation, making it truly versatile.

Many suppliers produce Resveratrol, but Sytheon, USA is undoubtedly recognized as the most professional. The clinical trial data and mechanisms of action mentioned above come from professional literature published by Sytheon.

02 Argireline®

INCI Name: Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, sourced from Lipotec S.A.U., Spain

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, also known as Argireline, is a well-known neuropeptide in the peptide field. It was developed and patented by the famous raw material manufacturer Lipotec.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is a neurotransmitter inhibitor that blocks the signal transmission of muscle contraction, resulting in muscle relaxation.

In simpler terms, it reduces muscle contractions, thereby reducing the formation of dynamic wrinkles and expression lines. Due to its safety and fast results, Argireline is highly sought after by many top brands such as La Mer, Estée Lauder, Guerlain, and Lancôme.

03 XI’AN YANG™ Icktonin

INCI Name: Tetrahydro Methylpyrimidinecarboxylic Acid, sourced from Xi’an Biology

Icktonin, also known as Tetrahydro Methylpyrimidinecarboxylic Acid, originates from extremophilic microorganisms and is their survival tool in extreme environments.

When cells are under external stresses such as UV radiation and high temperatures, water molecules surround Icktonin, forming a hydration layer around DNA and proteins, protecting macromolecules (proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids), and cell membranes from damage.

Experimental evidence has shown that Icktonin has long-lasting moisturizing, anti-stress, and repair effects in skincare. To combat relentless UV radiation, air pollution, and other environmental stressors, Icktonin is the best choice.

The Icktonin added by Unilipo comes from Xi’an Biology, one of the most recognized cosmetic raw material suppliers in China. They have transported Icktonin from China to the USA for production, which can be seen as a combination of Eastern and Western therapies.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 is responsible for quickly reducing dynamic wrinkles. Resveratrol is responsible for comprehensive anti-aging from the inside out, and Icktonin is responsible for moisturization and day-and-night protection. Together, with C3Px, the skin is constantly renewed under care.

Exposure factors and skin aging

Skin aging is usually divided into endogenous aging and exogenous aging. Endogenous aging refers to factors such as genetics and diseases, which are mostly beyond our control. Exogenous aging is mainly caused by environmental factors and skincare habits, leading to premature skin aging.

In 2005, American cancer epidemiologist Christopher Wild coined the term “exposome” to describe the overall exposure of a person from birth to death. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive understanding of lifelong environmental (non-genetic) exposures in order to better understand the interaction between the human body and the environment, as well as the subsequent development of both pathological and non-pathological characteristics.

As a barrier organ, the skin is influenced by various external factors throughout life. Therefore, after two consensus meetings held by the European Society of Environmental Medicine and/or Skin Biology in March and May 2016, a paper titled “The skin aging exposome” was published.[1]

The paper suggests that environmental factors, as part of the skin aging exposome, can be categorized into the following main categories:

  1. Solar radiation

This includes ultraviolet (UV) radiation, visible light, and infrared (IR) radiation.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation

UV radiation accounts for 5% of the total sunlight. According to wavelength, it can be divided into UVC, UVB, and UVA. UVC is blocked by the atmosphere and does not reach the Earth’s surface. About 5% of UVB can reach the Earth’s surface, and its intensity is influenced by latitude, season, and cloud cover. UVA is the main component, accounting for about 95% of the total, with a consistent intensity throughout the year.

UVB has a shorter wavelength and higher energy, and it is mostly absorbed by the epidermis, mainly affecting epidermal cells by inducing DNA damage and directly interacting with DNA to cause skin damage.

On the other hand, UVA has a longer wavelength and can penetrate deeper, interacting with both epidermal keratinocytes and fibroblasts in the dermis. UVA primarily acts through the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). A study on UVA and skin aging suggests that ordinary glass can almost completely absorb UVB radiation, while at least 50% of UVA can be transmitted. Although UVA photons have an average ability about 1000 times lower than UVB, they have strong penetration and can even cause aging changes in the dermis. An obvious example is the more severe aging on the side of the face of a car driver exposed to UVA through the side window.[2]

Hence, scientists have coined the term “photoaging” to emphasize premature skin aging caused by UV radiation.

UV radiation is currently considered one of the most well-studied and well-supported environmental factors that can contribute to skin aging, affecting the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue.

In the skincare documentary “The Truth About Looking Young” produced by BBC, Professor Chris Griffiths, a leading dermatologist, emphasizes that about 75% of skin aging is caused by UV radiation.

Visible light and infrared (IR) radiation

Visible light accounts for 50% of total sunlight, and infrared radiation accounts for the remaining 45%. It has long been believed that the impact of these two types of radiation on the skin is relatively small. However, recent studies have indicated that both visible light and infrared radiation can induce the production of matrix metalloproteinases (which degrade collagen) and reduce collagen regeneration.

  1. Air pollution

Air pollution is mainly composed of two types of pollutants: particulate matter (PM), usually in the form of fine particles (PM2.5) or coarse particles (PM10), and gases or volatile organic compounds.

A study by Estée Lauder showed that indoor air pollution caused by the combustion of solid fuels (such as firewood and coal) used for cooking and heating in China can lead to premature skin aging.[3]

There is ample evidence that exposure to air pollution related to car exhaust (including PM, NO2, and ground-level ozone) is associated with the formation of pigmentation spots and wrinkles in white and East Asian individuals.

  1. Smoking and secondhand smoke

Smokers often have prominent facial wrinkles, especially around the mouth, upper lip, and eyes.

Heavy smokers may develop excessive pigmentation in the oral mucosa, which is known as “smoker’s melanosis.” Epidemiological evidence suggests that the skin color of female smokers in Japan is darker than non-smokers.

Twin studies have found that smoking is associated with increased wrinkles, tissue laxity, and pigmentation changes in humans, with a visual age difference of approximately 2.5 years after 10 years of smoking.

  1. Dietary habits

A diet rich in antioxidants may delay aging.

Consuming vegetables, olive oil, and legumes can help prevent photodamage to the skin.

Excessive sugar intake can lead to premature skin aging, also known as “glycation reaction.” After the age of 35, glycation occurs in the dermis, and UV radiation and free radicals can accelerate this process. It is important to note that sugar here refers not only to simple sugars, but also includes high-sugar fruits, foods, etc. Additionally, foods cooked by grilling and frying also contribute to the exogenous intake of advanced glycation end products (AGEs). (For example, the brown crust on grilled bread and the caramelized color in braised pork.)

  1. Other less studied factors

These include stress, lack of sleep, heat, and other factors.

  1. Cosmetics (including skincare products, makeup, hair care, perfumes, personal hygiene products, etc.)

Incorrect skincare practices can indeed damage skin health.

Among the ingredients in cosmetics, retinoids, particularly retinoic acid, have the highest level of evidence as anti-aging ingredients.

To summarize:

The most effective anti-aging measures include:

Not smoking, not drinking, and staying away from secondhand smoke.

Avoiding cooking and avoiding having children (not cooking is mainly to avoid the impact of fumes and heat on skin aging, while not having children is due to changes in the body and hormones, as well as the lack of sleep and increased mental stress).

Getting enough sleep, waking up early, avoiding staying up late, engaging in moderate exercise, and reducing anxiety.

Reducing the consumption of milk tea and sugar, and eating more steamed and boiled food while reducing the intake of grilled and fried food.

Using retinoids or their precursors, such as retinol or retinal, to care for the skin.

Maintaining the skin barrier to keep the skin healthy (resisting external irritants).

Using sunscreen to protect the skin from the damage of blue light and UV radiation.

Orally or topically using antioxidants to reduce the damage of free radicals to the skin.

Summary: Anti-aging strategies for different age groups and the importance of moisturizing and collagen synthesis.

Translation: Anti-aging Strategies for Different Age Groups One repair, two resistance. Learn this anti-aging strategy and look 10 years younger than your peers~

Characteristics of aging at different ages

  • Ages 22-28

Skin metabolism slows down, collagen synthesis decreases with age, the skin’s epidermis ages, becomes rough, lacks luster, and fine lines and expression lines start to appear.

  • Ages 29-35

Loss of collagen in the dermis leads to sagging skin, and cliff-like aging begins at 35. Genuine wrinkles such as forehead lines and crow’s feet appear.

  • Ages 35-48

Collagen levels decrease to half of the youthful level, and the skin sags under the influence of gravity. Pigmentation and dark spots start to appear.

One repair: Hydration and moisturization

Ensure that the skin is well-hydrated, as dryness and dehydration are major causes of skin aging.

Two resistances: Anti-sugar + Anti-oxidation

Excessive intake of sugar results in glycation reactions, where free sugars attach to proteins and form AGEs (advanced glycation end-products), causing the skin to appear dull and yellowish.

Anti-oxidation refers to combating free radicals, which attack healthy skin cells and accelerate aging.

Epidermis anti-aging strategy: Strengthen the skin barrier, maintain hydration and basic metabolism.

Recommended ingredients: Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), Boswellia Extract, Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM)

Extracellular matrix: Enhance collagen synthesis and firm the skin.

Recommended ingredients: Firming Peptides, Signal Peptides, Repair Peptides

Choose an anti-aging method that suits you. Start anti-aging early in the morning to preserve your youthful appearance. A comprehensive and effective anti-aging approach is essential for those over 25+.

Anti-aging Formula: Sunscreen, Barrier Protection, Skincare

Although we cannot resist the natural process of aging, we can take some measures to slow down the aging process caused by external factors.

Universal Anti-Aging Formula [Sun Protection + Protective Barrier + Proper Skincare]

△ Sun Protection

Avoid excessive exposure to the sun + ensure effective sun protection + choose sunscreen carefully.

Sunscreen should be selected to avoid skin irritation and inflammation, and for severe skin problems, strong sun protection is a priority.

△ Protective Barrier

Avoid excessive cleansing + avoid excessive exfoliation + maintain good hydration

Use barrier repair products when necessary. Our daily basic skincare routine is a strategy for anti-aging.

Hydration helps restore a normal skin barrier, and sun protection helps reduce UV stimulation. With the help of active ingredients, our skin can maintain a good condition. These are “anti-aging” strategies and help maintain the current state for a longer period of time, slowing down the passage of time.

Reducing or repairing external damage to the skin is undoubtedly the best foundation for anti-aging.

△ Proper Skincare

Avoid blindly pursuing aggressive treatments + avoid falling for gimmicks + adjust flexibly

You can also use skincare solutions such as retinol to slow down aging and improve early signs of aging. The best solution is the one that suits you!

Symptoms of aging include sagging, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.

Although moisturizing and repairing and sun protection are the best anti-aging measures, they help cells gradually regain their ability, but everyone still hopes to solve current problems and expect some hardcore anti-aging ingredients to be effective directly on the skin.

Currently, the mainstream anti-aging ingredients in the anti-aging industry include Vitamin A, peptides, and resveratrol, among others.

Therefore, the most recommended is to persist in using retinol because it can simultaneously solve sagging, wrinkles, and dull skin tone (photoaging issues). However, peptides should not be underestimated, they should also be used. Peptides can have a faster effect on fine lines.

A low concentration of retinol, around 0.3%, is enough for Asians to combat aging. If retinol cannot be used, the best choice for sensitive skin is HPR, a derivative of vitamin A acid, which can provide the same firming and tightening sensation as retinol during use. (But once discontinued, it will lose its effect, which is not the case with retinol.)

If you have any favorite vitamin C or antioxidant products, you can directly add them to your skincare routine.

Delay Aging Naturally: Exercise, Balance Diet, Mental Wellbeing

Aging is unavoidable, but delaying aging means following the laws of aging, conforming to the laws of nature, and minimizing the interference of internal and external adverse factors as much as possible. It involves mobilizing the body’s maximum potential, slowing down the aging process, and delaying unpleasant aging.

There are two aspects to effective aging:

  1. Prolonging the period from maturity to old age, and entering old age as slowly as possible.
  2. Extending the “healthy life expectancy” during old age, ensuring that old age is characterized by good health, independence, and the absence of diseases.

Here, it is important to mention the four different types of age:

  1. Calendar age, which represents the time that has passed since birth.
  2. Biological age, which indicates the degree of physiological decline in an individual. It is calculated by subtracting the biological age from the calendar age. A positive value indicates a faster aging rate, while a negative value indicates a slower aging rate.
  3. Psychological age, which refers to the degree of psychological aging and can be measured using psychological scales.
  4. Social age, which refers to an individual’s social function and role.

Clearly, the first type of age cannot be changed, but the latter three can be adjusted. This is where our efforts to delay aging come into play.

So, how can we scientifically assess the speed of aging? We can start by considering two aspects:

  1. Observing physical appearance, such as skin laxity, wrinkles, age spots, hair thinning, and graying.
  2. Assessing the overall reaction to aging, which is generally believed to be slower in individuals who possess the “five quicks”: quick eating, quick sleep, quick bowel movements, quick speech, and quick walking.

Therefore, delaying aging can be approached from two perspectives: non-pharmaceutical interventions and pharmaceutical interventions.

I. Non-pharmaceutical interventions to delay aging.

  1. Moderate exercise and value rest.

Life is dependent on movement, and moderate exercise is important.

Moderate exercise:

  • Increases blood flow and oxygen supply, making organs younger by 3-10 years.
  • Delays the onset of fatal age-related diseases.
  • Enhances heart function and lowers resting heart rate.
  • Strengthens bones and muscles, preventing osteoporosis.
  • Prevents obesity and maintains overall bodily functions.
  • Improves mental state and reduces psychological age.

Aerobic exercises are especially recommended, such as jogging, cycling, swimming, and aerobics, which are low-intensity, rhythmic, and can be sustained for a long time.

  1. Maintain psychological balance.

Having an open mind, a pleasant personality, and a kind heart can help achieve psychological equilibrium. This can be guided by the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, which advise against excessive emotions (joy, anger, worry, contemplation, sadness, fear, and surprise).

  1. Maintain regular daily routines.

Under the influence of the biological clock, living according to the rhythm of day and night enables the formation of positive conditioned reflexes in the cerebral cortex, facilitating normal metabolism.

Reversing day and night, irregular routines, and excessive stress can lead to cardiovascular diseases and premature aging!

Of course, in order to delay aging, besides getting enough sleep and avoiding staying up late, the quality of sleep should be ensured.

Due to the influences of light and environment, daytime sleep only has an effectiveness of 26% compared to nighttime sleep. Thus, people who consistently work night shifts may experience insufficient sleep, leading to accelerated aging.

  1. Balanced diet.
  • While ensuring comprehensive nutrition, the calorie intake should match the age. As one grows older, the required calories decrease every year.
  • Drink plenty of water, without waiting to feel thirsty. Aim for approximately 2000ml per day.
  • Obtain nutrition primarily from natural foods, unless there is a specific need for supplements.
  • Long-term overeating, excessive nutrition, and selective eating will accelerate aging.

II. External interventions.

  1. Antioxidants.

These primarily eliminate harmful free radicals in the body and enhance the protective effects of the antioxidant defense system.

This includes:

  • Non-enzymatic antioxidants: Vitamins A, C, E, etc.
  • Enzymatic antioxidants: Superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase, etc.
  • Antioxidant compounds: Astaxanthin, CoQ10, etc.
  1. Micronutrients.

Various trace elements act as cofactors for enzymes, playing stabilizing or activating roles in nucleic acids, hormones, cell membranes, etc. As the body ages, certain elements may become deficient. In such cases, appropriate supplementation can enhance the immune system and delay aging. However, too many trace elements can be toxic, so indiscriminate supplementation is not recommended.

  1. Delaying brain aging.

For example, popular unsaturated fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic acid, DHA, and EPA have certain antioxidant and lipid-lowering effects.

Aging is multi-level, multi-stage, progressive, and irreversible. To combat aging, we must start with small and everyday matters!

We must recognize that aging is a natural law. Although striving for a healthy and long life is everyone’s right, we should not excessively push for it!

Choosing the Right Home RF Beauty Device: Reviews and Recommendations

This is a really interesting question! ✔️

As someone who easily develops fine lines with very dry skin, and who has also reached the age of 35+

I have been quite harsh on myself when it comes to anti-aging!㊙️ Haha!

I have tried various skincare products and have done quite a few aesthetic treatments (of course, when I say aesthetic treatments, I mean skincare treatments, I swear I haven’t had any plastic surgery! My pointed chin and high nose are all natural! Haha!)

To be honest, both skincare products and beauty devices, aesthetic treatments have a certain effect on aging, but I highly recommend

{\bold{\color{red}{home radio frequency beauty device}}}
, why?

As someone who has been through it, I spent a week summarizing a thousand-word popular science + purchasing guide about beauty, hoping to help all the princesses and princes achieve a youthful and radiant complexion, eternal youth!✨

I won’t go into details here, let’s talk about the main points. Here is the mind map and links of the article for those who need them.

How to choose popular home radio frequency beauty devices in 2023? Are they really just a tax on intelligence? Anti-aging, anti-oxidation, skincare, beauty device recommendations, and purchasing guide! Yamei/Miguang/Chupu/Huazhi/Jimeng/Zhousi, how to choose the top ten brands of home beauty devices? Which one is good? (Updated in November)

⭐️ In terms of effectiveness, medical aesthetics definitely have the most immediate results, but the level of medical aesthetic institutions varies, and choosing the wrong one can cause irreversible consequences, there are indeed safety risks, not to mention that the cost is high. (In the previous section, Part 2-7, there is a specific explanation of the difference between medical and home radio frequency, if you are in a hurry, you can jump to it in the table of contents)

⭐️ Skincare products that have anti-aging effects are definitely known to everyone, and a random set or even a single product would cost at least four digits… the amount that can actually be absorbed by the skin is very limited, so the anti-aging effect is naturally minimal…

⭐️ Home radio frequency beauty devices have less effectiveness than medical aesthetics but more than skincare products, and the price of a beauty device is about the same as 1-2 sets of skincare products. Skincare products would be used up in 3 to 4 months, even if you are very frugal, it still won’t last more than half a year. Beyond the shelf life of half a year, the effectiveness of the active ingredients would have evaporated. In terms of cost-effectiveness, home radio frequency beauty devices are definitely superior ✔️

The use of radio frequency technology for anti-aging is already very mature, and it has been proven to be effective in combating aging (in the previous section, Part 2-3-7, there is a detailed explanation, if you are interested, you can jump to it in the table of contents). Compared to professional beauty devices, home radio frequency beauty devices have lower energy but higher safety, and long-term use is indispensable for maintaining youthful skin. In terms of safety, home radio frequency beauty devices are a winner ✔️

For early signs of aging, it is enough for us to choose a suitable home radio frequency beauty device to combat aging. However, for mature skin with obvious signs of aging, it is recommended to occasionally choose regular professional aesthetic institutions for aesthetic treatments. If you have a thicker wallet, you can also use skincare products with anti-aging ingredients. If conditions are limited, using a basic moisturizing skincare set is sufficient. (If you want to quickly determine the level of skin aging, you can jump to “Three-1-(2)” in the table of contents to do a self-assessment)

Seeing up to this point, I’m sure many of you will say, “I understand the theory, but there are so many beauty devices on the market!”

What are the differences?

Which one is suitable for me?

Is it just a tax on intelligence?

❗️ It’s really confusing!

I have also been troubled by these questions many times, and have given up directly, so I have also experienced quite a few detours in the process of combating aging ❌

Today, I want to share my experience with all of you~

❗❗❗ Important Reminder

When choosing a beauty device, we should consider our own expectations, skin problems and needs, product features and efficacy, and not blindly follow the trend.
When it comes to beauty devices, we should not choose expensive ones, but the right ones. It is not easy to earn money, so let’s not pay the “tax on intelligence”!
And there are many ways to combat aging, persistence is the key!

Let’s dive deep into the article for a science and purchasing guide, and I will recommend a few beauty devices that you can copy blindly.

I heard that double-clicking the screen before copying homework can give you a “buff boost"~

⭐️ 3. Flossom Purple Bullet by Flossom Beauty Device

The Flossom beauty device is the only device that has been named twice by CCTV’s “outstanding student” in the beauty device industry. It is the heir to the grandchild of the prestigious brand Yamei.

One of the greatest features of the Flossom Purple Bullet beauty device is its pioneering “skin test before anti-aging” customized energy care. First, it uses an intelligent skin test system to measure the thickness and water content of your skin and recommends the most suitable personalized energy mode and level based on your skin condition and goals. It provides a customized solution, so you no longer have to blindly combat aging!

It not only comes with a beauty coach in its own small program who accompanies you throughout the journey, but also offers a lifetime free cloud upgrade system. It is a device that can be used for many years!

Equipped with an 8-level precise energy algorithm similar to the professional Thermage, it can meet precise energy needs and effectively firm and reduce wrinkles, tighten loose and sagging skin, and improve severe eye wrinkles and sagging. It can solve various skin problems for those with initial signs of aging or mature skin.

Whenever you buy one for yourself, you can also use it with your mother! It is truly not just nice!

For those who want to see product details, you can jump to section “Seventh-(third)” in the main body of the article.

It is already a veteran in the “endless repurchase” group, so I won’t introduce it further~

✍ Guide to purchasing anti-aging beauty devices

Nowadays, people are under great work pressure, often staying up late, and have improper lifestyles, all of which can accelerate skin aging.

Anti-aging is a very comprehensive matter. Dietary adjustments, daily skincare, beauty devices, and aesthetic treatments are all effective ways to combat aging. However, no matter which method is chosen, there is no one-time solution. Long-term persistence is required. Therefore, in order to do a good job in anti-aging, it is necessary to have realistic expectations and understanding.

Compared to dietary adjustments and daily skincare, beauty devices can achieve more significant results in anti-aging. Compared to professional-grade devices, home beauty devices are more convenient and safer, and their anti-aging effects with long-term use can be comparable to professional-grade devices.

It is true that radio frequency technology is effective in anti-aging, but it does not mean that all radio frequency beauty devices are effective. There are various types of beauty devices on the market, with different functions and prices, so it is necessary to do some research to choose a beauty device that is truly effective and suitable for you.

I have done a lot of research and although I can’t call myself an expert, I am still an outstanding student. So, since you have read up to this point, please give it your attention~ @HR Yuejie in the technology field.

Finally, let me summarize how to choose a beauty device that is truly effective and suitable for you.

1. Establish realistic expectations.

A beauty device is not a magical wand that can solve all skin problems at once or make you instantly young and beautiful. A beauty device is just an auxiliary tool that needs to be used in conjunction with appropriate skincare products and lifestyle habits to achieve the best results. Therefore, when choosing a beauty device, have clear goals and expectations, don’t blindly pursue high-end and expensive products, and don’t easily believe advertisements and influencer recommendations.

2. Understand your skin problems and needs.

Everyone’s skin condition and type are different, and common needs include deep cleansing, brightening the complexion, firming the skin, and reducing fine lines… Before purchasing a beauty device, you need to think and make choices based on your own needs. Different needs correspond to different technologies. Before purchasing a beauty device, conduct a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of your own skin, identify the problems you want to solve and the direction you want to improve, and then choose a beauty device with the appropriate functions and type based on your needs.

Many people complain that the beauty device they bought is useless because they did not understand this point. Clearly, they want to reduce fine lines, but they bought an LED type beauty device, so of course, the effect will not be as desired.

Once you have identified your needs, you can compare different beauty devices based on your needs, and you will find that your choices have become more focused. With a clear direction, the probability of making mistakes will be greatly reduced.

3. Understand the principles and usage methods of beauty devices.

Different beauty devices have different working principles and usage methods, and their impact and effects on the skin are also different.

Before purchasing a beauty device, understand the basic information and instructions of the product, such as how it works on the skin (such as current, light waves, magnetic fields, etc.), how long it takes to see results (daily use or weekly use), whether there are any side effects or contraindications (such as whether it can be used for sensitive skin or pregnant women), and what skincare products or other devices it should be used in conjunction with (such as conductive gel or export cotton).

This information can help us choose and use beauty devices more effectively, avoid skin damage or wasting money.

Taking radio frequency as an example: with the above information, we can extract several important points: energy, temperature, and conductive gel. When choosing a product, you can compare these aspects.

(1) Energy

The higher the energy of a radio frequency beauty device, the better the effect. However, it does not mean that everyone should use the highest energy level. It should be adjusted according to the tolerance of your skin to avoid the risk of burns. Therefore, you can check whether there are multiple levels that can be adjusted when choosing a beauty device, so you can freely adjust according to your own situation.

(2) Temperature

Precise temperature control is crucial for radio frequency beauty devices. The temperature should be sufficient to achieve results without burning the skin. It is recommended to choose a brand and product that has passed safety certification.

(3) Conductive gel

Home radio frequency beauty devices often require the use of conductive gel as a medium to help the energy better penetrate the skin and relieve the discomfort of surface heating caused by radio frequency. It is even better if there is a special matching conductive gel~

4. Consider whether it is convenient and effortless to use

Radio frequency beauty devices require long-term commitment, so once you have spent the money, you should also motivate yourself not to be lazy. Of course, everyone has their own inertia. If you need to summon up courage and put in a lot of effort every time you use a beauty device, it will be difficult to persist in the long run. Therefore, when choosing a beauty device, you can consider these points as well.

(1) Size of the metal head

A larger metal head has a larger contact area with the skin, which naturally saves time and effort. However, an excessively large head may not be able to take care of areas such as the eyes and the sides of the nose, so it should be moderate.

(2) Plug-in or rechargeable

Using a rechargeable beauty device is more convenient than a plug-in one, as you don’t have to search for sockets everywhere.

(3) Weight and comfort of holding

The weight of the beauty device and how comfortable it is to hold directly affect how tired your hand gets, so you can consider whether the handle has a design that is easy to grip when choosing a beauty device.

In summary, I want to reiterate that when choosing a beauty device that suits you, you should take into consideration your own expectations, skin problems and needs, product features and efficacy, and not blindly follow the trend.

When it comes to beauty devices, don’t choose expensive ones, but the right ones. It is not easy to earn money, so let’s not pay the “tax on intelligence”!

And remember! There are many ways to combat aging, persistence is the key!

The Connection Between Emotions and Skin, and the Influence of Skincare on Emotions.

When I saw this question, I didn’t know what was going on. Suddenly, I had the lyrics of Yi Nengjing’s “The Last Day of Being Nineteen” echoing in my mind, “… Nineteen is an age that should be spent recklessly, suddenly crossing the threshold of being twenty without leaving anything behind. Starting with the “two” in the age, I really want to say that if everything can start over, can I choose a dream without regrets? On the last day of being nineteen, it seems like even the sunshine has been taken away…” These lyrics give the feeling that even twenty years old is already old. At that time, the audience should have included Qin Hao, who had just turned twenty. He once said on a variety show that he listened to Yi Nengjing’s songs, but even the twenty-year-old Qin Hao wouldn’t fall in love with Yi Nengjing. It would take many years of experience and growth before he would. Yi Nengjing is now in her forties, and the sunshine hasn’t completely disappeared.

The reason I thought of this was because the concept of “emotional skincare” has come up again. The human body is an organic whole, and if one’s emotions are not good, it can indeed affect the condition of one’s skin. It is natural for people to be afraid of aging because aging can lead to illness, a decline in earning power, and so on. In addition, some things in life can also cause anxiety. For example, I used to not understand parents' anxiety until I was pulled into a class group for first graders. Those moms seemed to not have to work at all. Some people were already sending messages in the group at 5 a.m. It’s hard not to be anxious in such an intense atmosphere. There is also the fury over teaching Pinyin. I heard that some parents got so angry that they passed out and had to be taken to the hospital by an ambulance for rescue.

A person’s state is related to the overall environment. Skincare brands have keenly grasped this point. Nowadays, the focus is on the empowerment of technology, and domestic brands in China are stepping up their research efforts. Pechoin is such a brand. At the 26th Congress of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists in 2021, Pechoin scientist Zuo Jinhui submitted and published a paper titled “A New Approach to Anti-aging Skincare Products, from Skin Physiology to ‘Psychological’ Skincare.” From the perspective of neurocosmetics, it explores the transition from researching the anti-aging of the skin’s surface to the psychological aspect.

At this year’s Expo, there were many cutting-edge technologies on display as well. Yefung Group’s Eve Long uses an AI brainwave emotion test device to track and analyze users' emotional changes during the spa experience. Their staff explained, “Research has shown that the human skin and nervous system both originate from the ectoderm of the embryo, and they share hormones such as dopamine and endorphins. Therefore, there is a great connection between a person’s emotions and the condition of their skin.”

Meiqingxu is also a domestic skincare brand that promotes the concept of “slow living” emotional skincare. It conveys this concept from various aspects. First, let’s look at its name, “Meiqingxu,” which sounds like “no emotions” in Chinese. In fact, if we calm down and think about it, many times we shouldn’t have emotions. All the hustle and bustle is because we are impatient for success, and our steps are too fast. If we measure life in a hundred years, even at fifty, we are still young. If we teach children to measure life in a hundred years, then we shouldn’t rush them. Learning Pinyin is not a difficult task. By reading more, they will naturally learn it. Let’s take a look at the logo and packaging. It combines traditional Chinese culture with modern craftsmanship, incorporating intangible cultural heritage such as shadow play and traditional Huizhou architecture, blending with the characteristics of Yunnan’s local customs and forging a unique Eastern beauty.

The brand’s “emotional skincare” is also reflected in the cultivation of ingredients and product formulas. It is currently autumn and winter, which is a good time for oil-based skincare. Meiqingxu’s Light Infusion Facial Oil is made with plant oils and fermentation technology, so it is not greasy to use, and the skin can absorb it well. Even oily skin can use it with confidence.

Taking care of the skin in autumn and winter is not just about the face. Meiqingxu’s Bubble Body Oil can be used to moisturize from head to toe. This body oil combines water and oil, using rose hydrosol instead of conventional “water” solvents. After taking a hot bath and turning on the heater, you won’t have to worry about dryness anymore.

The brand aims to create a natural body fragrance for winter, with a scent that resembles perfume, presenting a layered feeling. Hormonal imbalance can lead to emotional instability. Essential oils like rose, geranium, and sandalwood can help maintain hormonal balance. No wonder the brand’s promotional materials mention “a realm of harmony” and “like the warm and gentle sunlight in winter,” which can make people less depressed.

The product also incorporates five star ingredients commonly used in facial care, and there is no need to shake it before use.

Finally, let me share a British joke with you. They say time is merciless to those who are good-looking, but has no solution for those who are not. The British even researched that unattractive people are more likely to succeed because they need more effort to persuade others due to their unattractive appearance, so their abilities are developed in all aspects. No wonder the British are so emotionally stable.
