On October 19th, ByteDance issued an official response to recent rumors that an intern had launched an “attack” on the company’s large language model training. In their statement, ByteDance clarified that while a malicious interference by an intern did occur in a research project of their commercial technology team, it did not affect any of ByteDance’s formal commercial projects, online services, or other businesses such as their large language models.
